In a previous post we explained what are Pivot Tables and how to start building them
We have discovered how pivot tables performs aggregations on data that meets the criteria on the corresponding rows and columns headers.
Pivot Tables in Excel offer a wide range of functions through which data can be aggregated and analysed
The full list can be accessed from the 'Value Field Settings..' menu that appears when right clicking after selecting a value inside the pivot table
The tab 'Summarize Values By' contains all the possible functions that can be used to analyse and aggregate the values in the pivot Tab
The formulas operate on all the data in the 'Values Field' of the pivot table
The types of formuals available are the following:
SUM. Add the numeric values
Count: Counts the number of non-empty cells
Average: Calculates the average of the numeric values
MIn/Max: Finds the minimum or maximum value in a field
Count Numbers: Counts the number of numeric values in a field
Product: Multiplies all the values that meet the conditios in the Rows and Columns Headers
StDev: Calculates the StandardDeviation assuming that the data in the underlying table is a sample of a larger population
StDevP: Calculates the StandardDeviation assuming that the data in the underlying table is the entire population
Var: Calculates the Variance assuming that the data in the underlying table is a sample of a larger population
VarP: Calculates the Variance assuming that the data in the underlying table is the entire population
